Overview

What is Heavy Duty FRP Grating?

Heavy duty FRP grating is a high-strength fiberglass reinforced plastic flooring solution engineered to withstand extreme loads in the most demanding industrial environments. Manufactured through either molded or pultruded processes with a high glass-to-resin ratio, these panels deliver exceptional structural integrity while remaining significantly lighter than steel grating.

Unlike standard FRP grating which supports moderate loads for pedestrian walkways, heavy duty FRP grating is specifically designed for vehicular traffic, heavy machinery platforms, mezzanine floors, and industrial workstations where load requirements exceed 1,000 psf. The increased thickness — typically 1.5 inches to 2 inches — combined with higher fiberglass content provides the necessary strength without sacrificing the inherent corrosion resistance that makes FRP grating the preferred choice in chemical plants, refineries, and offshore facilities.

Our heavy duty FRP grating line is available in multiple resin systems including polyester, vinyl ester, and fire-retardant formulations. All panels feature a premium anti-slip surface with grit-top finish, ensuring worker safety even in wet or oily conditions. With a service life exceeding 50 years in most environments and zero maintenance requirements, heavy duty FRP grating delivers the lowest total cost of ownership among all industrial flooring options.

Features

Features & Benefits

Heavy duty FRP grating key features

Heavy Duty FRP Grating Features

Engineered for extreme performance

Exceptional Load Capacity

Engineered to support uniform loads up to 4,000 psf and concentrated loads up to 2,000 lbs with minimal deflection, making it suitable for heavy machinery and vehicular traffic.

Superior Corrosion Resistance

Built with premium vinyl ester resin systems that withstand over 300 corrosive chemicals including acids, alkalis, solvents, and chlorides — outlasting steel grating by decades.

Slip-Resistant Safety Surface

Factory-embedded silica grit top surface provides exceptional traction exceeding OSHA standards, with a coefficient of friction above 0.8 even in wet or oily conditions.

Lightweight and Easy Installation

75 percent lighter than comparable steel grating, allowing faster installation without heavy lifting equipment. Panels cut easily with standard carbide-tipped saws.

Fire Retardant Options

Available with fire-retardant resin formulations meeting ASTM E84 Class 1 flame spread rating and ASTM D635 self-extinguishing requirements for added safety.

Zero Maintenance Lifecycle

Never needs painting, coating, or galvanizing. No rust, no corrosion, no replacement required — delivering the lowest lifecycle cost of any industrial flooring material.
